from Edible Phoenix
December 2005
Dear
Charter Members of the Edible Phoenix Community,
Best
wishes for a delicious, nutritious, and
local foods-filled New Year!
If
you haven't checked out the Edible
Phoenix website recently, give it
another look. We're offering a special pre-publication
subscription rate of $20 per year for new
subscribers (an $8 discount over the standard
rates). Just click on "Get
a Copy".
We've
also started our Food
Calendar so you can plan your social
schedule around the many food events occurring
during the Valley's busy winter season.
I'm especially looking forward to the Slow
Food Phoenix Goat Cheese Tasting and Cooking
event on January 12, and to being totally
exhausted by all of the activities lined
up for March 2006.
The
contributors to our February inaugural issue
are a well-read (and well-fed) group of
food writers. From Kevin Dahl, the director
of Native Seeds/SEARCH, to author Gwen Ashley
Walters, to Urban Farm founder Greg Peterson,
we've lined up a strong array of local talent.
When we add in the columns of our nutrition
and wine/food experts (Sharon Salomon and
Debbie Elder respectively), we have an over-flowing
buffet of articles for our first issue.
You can read more on our contributors in
the "About
Us" section of the website.
In
my last newsletter, I promised you a sneak
peek at our first issue. In the "Articles"
section of the website, you will find Kathy
Couturié's write-up on her visit to Vincent's
Camelback Market. The article is a perfect
preview of the treat that will be in store
for you when you read her "roaming gourmet's
guide" in the premier issue of Edible
Phoenix.
And
last, but definitely not least, the "Gallery"
on the website provides a quick snapshot
of the stunning local food images captured
by award-winning photographer Carole Topalian.
The
resources section of the website is still
under construction. If you have any favorite
local food organizations you'd like us to
include, please send the information to
newsevents@ediblephoenix.com.
Or, if you'd just like to drop us a line,
contact info@ediblephoenix.com.
Warm
regards,
Pamela L. Hamilton
