Dear Members of the Edible Phoenix Community,
We
hope you're enjoying the spring issue of
Edible Phoenix. With articles on
delicious weeds, wine in a brown paper bag,
spicing up your life, Four Peaks Brewery
and more, it's another information-packed
issue. If you haven't picked up a copy yet,
go to the website: www.ediblephoenix.com/pages/copy.htm
for a complete list of our advertisers and
other distribution locations.
Edible
Phoenix is hosting the Authors' Pavilion
at the West of Western Culinary Festival
on March 24 and 25 this year (see www.westofwestern.com).
On Saturday, Mary Garland and Amanda Stine
will sign Sharing the Table at Garland's
at 2:00 p.m. The book was recently nominated
for the Best American Cookbook award by
IACP (International Association of Culinary
Professionals). Barbara Fenzl will talk
about Seasonal Southwest Cooking
at 2:30 p.m. On Sunday, the line-up includes
Garden of Eating, Phoenix Dining
Guide, Braces Cookbook, and Dining
in Arizona. The Historical League will
present Tastes & Treasures both days
with the editors available on Sunday at
3:00 p.m. Over 50 top chefs (including most
of our favorite local product supporters)
will be on hand for the festival.
Sunday,
April 1 is the date for another very special
event. Edible Phoenix has joined
with Slow Food Phoenix and other Valley
farmers and farmers' markets for the 2nd
Annual Slow Food is Local: Eating from our
Farmers' Markets farm tour and dinner. This
year the tour will visit historic Sahuaro
Ranch in Glendale and three nearby West
Valley Farms: Crooked Sky, McClendon's Select
and Tolmachoff. Chefs from caféBistro, Mosaic,
Taggia, and Leave it to Elizabeth will cook
up farm-fresh tastes at each location. A
Churro lamb and pig roast at Sahuaro Ranch,
prepared by Quiessence Restaurant, tops
off the event. Advance tickets are required.
See www.ediblephoenix.com/farmtour
for more information.
We
are also very pleased to announce that the
Edible Communities family of publications
(including Edible Phoenix) has been
nominated for an Award of Excellence by
IACP in the category of Consumer Education
and Communications. You can now find Edible
publications in over 25 communities throughout
the United States. Results for the IACP
competition will be announced in Chicago
on April 14, keep your fingers crossed for
us.
Warm
regards,
Pamela L. Hamilton
